Read our FAQ and learn how to prepare for your appointment and after care. Once you get that first wax YOU'LL NEVER LOOK BACK FAQ How should you prepare for your wax? Exfoliate 1-2 days before your scheduled appointment. Make sure you are well hydrated so drink lots of water. Alcohol and coffee can make the skin more sensitive so avoid both before your wax. If you are worried about pain, take an ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment. How should you care for skin following your wax? For the first 24 hours avoid: Sexual activity Working out Excessive heat = jacuzzi, saunas, hot bath, sun bathing, tanning bed Tight clothing Spray tan Continued After Care (at minimum) Exfoliate 2-3 times per week Moisturize daily Don't pick at ingrown hairs We highly recommend using products created to care for your skin after it has been waxed and we offer many in our salon. What medications should I avoid if I’m about to get waxed? The following medications increase the rate at which your skin exfoliates, so waxing could lift your skin. Avoid ALL waxing while on Accutane and for a minimum of 6 months after coming off the medication. Please consult your doctor prior to scheduling an appointment should you have any concerns. Absolutely; just be aware that you may be more sensitive. We do ask that you wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup during your wax. How long does the hair have to be to be able to wax the area? The hair needs to be ¼ inch long or as long as a grain of rice. If you currently shave, it is about 2 weeks of growth. Can you get waxed if you’re pregnant? Absolutely! You will get to a point in your pregnancy when you can’t maneuver well enough for your personal grooming. Let us help! Pregnancy can increase pain sensitivity during waxing due to hormonal changes; this is normal. Consult your physician for further questions before your wax. Do you offer waxing services for all genders? Yes, we do! All waxing services are available to all genders, pricing does vary. If you are male, please schedule your appointment under men's waxing. Tanning before and after waxing? Always get a spray tan after your wax. We suggest waiting at least 24 hours for best results. We suggest waiting 3-5 days to get waxed after you have tanned. You should never get waxed if you have a sunburn or your skin is pink as the top layer of the skin can lift. We suggest waiting 3 days after you have waxed to tan in the sun or in a tanning booth. Freshly waxed skin is photosensitive and susceptible to burning. How do you handle an ingrown hair? Please don't pick at your ingrowns! We know it can be hard but picking at them can cause infection and scarring. If you are prone to ingrowns we are here to help. Through education, proper after care and our specialized treatments we can help you combat ingrowns. Should you trim before you wax? Please don't trim. If the hair is too long, we will trim it. Remember: the longer the hair, the easier it will be for the wax to pick it up, resulting in a smoother wax. Still unsure about booking your first wax with us? Call us, come by or check out our instagram at @everybodywax_ What do I need to do to prepare for brow lamination? Please don't trim or tweeze your brow hairs for 30 days. If you trim your brows before they are laminated, the lamination will show the unevenness of the trim thus requiring us to spend more time shaping them and potentially trimming them more than we want to. If possible, come with a clean face. What do I need to do to prepare for my lash lift? If possible, come with a clean face and clean lashes. No lash extensions as we are unable to remove them. Waxing Brows & Lashes Spray Tans How should you prepare for your spray tan? If possible, come freshly showered with clean skin, free of lotions and perfumes. Remember to wax, shave and/or exfoliate the day before your spray tan. Also, get manicures, pedicures, facials or massages before your appointment. Leading up to your appointment make sure to hydrate your skin with water and lotion and/or oils. Wear dark, loose fitting clothing to your appointment to avoid affecting your results. How should you care for skin following your spray tan? For the first 24 hours avoid: Avoid showering for up to 4-12 hours depending on your Spray Tan Solution - we will advise you. When showering don't use a loofah or anything that exfoliates the skin. Use only a gentle soap. Avoid getting wet, at a pool, lake, ocean, or even the rain. Be aware that chlorine can fade your spray tan. Working out Excessive heat = jacuzzi, saunas, hot bath, sun bathing, tanning bed Tight clothing If you are going to sleep with your spray tan solution on, wear long sleeves and pants and be aware the solution can transfer to your bedding. Don't exfoliate following your appointment Moisturizing daily will help your spray tan last longer Drink plenty of water to help your body and skin stay hydrated.
